The screen's output consisted of pixels or data which were one seventy-second (1/72) of an inch high. This size was chosen because it is almost the same as the size of one point. France is one of most user of SMS.... Even if french people like to talk (like italian ;) ) We prefer to send SMS than calling someone. We believe the message is better targeted than with voice.
For youth people, SMs, is like ICQ.. you can always say something to someone, at anytime.. Just on the spot :p
For companies, as the communication system is already done, sms, is one more way to get in touch with colleague (as, phone calls, fax, email...). I'm surprised this is not so well developped in your country !
Lately, after the tragedy in Thailand, the 3 french GSM operators have been asked to send SMS to their customer. The message asked them to report any probably missing family members. I found that a nice and new way to get informations.
