WoW on My iPhone

After having finally gotten an iPhone yesterday after much hassle in tracking one down, I discovered Telekinesis, a wonderful app that runs on your Mac and provides a web gateway for controlling it through an iPhone-friendly interface.

Naturally, I tried running a variety of applications using my iPhone as a controller and screen for my Mac, but the most impressive was World of Warcraft. While performance was hardly smooth, I could control several actions in WoW through the iPhone interface. Most notably, I could read and respond to in-game chat without too much of a problem.

I recorded the experience and posted a video here on YouTube for your viewing pleasure.

To clarify, WoW is running on the MacBook Pro that you see in the beginning. The iPhone just serves as a separate screen and controller connected over the internet. The iPhone's CPU is NOT running the game.

First In Person PSP Sighting

I got to check out a PSP in person for the first time after noticing some one pulling one out of their pack and asking if I could take some pictures. Seeing it in person really blew me away. The screen looks incredible, and really dominates the device. It looked like it could be hard to read in bright lighting, but otherwise it's wonderful. I'll have more thoughts on it in the podcast, which will hopefully take place tonight. For now, enjoy the pictures I took of it.

Nintendo DS: First Impressions

I got a chance to try out the Nintendo DS for the first time today. My first thoughts were about how small and compact it was and of course the impressiveness of the dual screens. There are some negative aspects as well, however, including a little awkwardness with the buttons and the fact that it's a little hard to concentrate on both screens at the same time. I'll have a full review for you in tonight's podcast which I'm about to go do now.

um.............WOW!

Yeah, that's from a video game. Engadget and Games Radar are reporting that EA has released screenshots of games for either the new Xbox or PlayStation. This one seems to be from an unidentified racing game. Take a look at how each individual tree leaf's shadow is rendered and check out the ray of sun shining through the branches as well as the reflection in the Porsche's back window. Amazing how advanced 3D modeling has become.
